The Matt Laffan scholarship provides financial assistance to a physically disabled student who wishes to reside at St John’s College within the University of Sydney.

St John’s College is seeking applications for students already at, or intending to attend, the University of Sydney in 2015.

Applications close on Tuesday 27 January and the College is encouraging all eligible students to apply.

The Matt Laffan Scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of St John’s College alumnus Matthew Laffan. Matthew had a rare genetic disorder, diastrophic dysplasia, which caused him physical difficulties from a young age.

Matthew graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws and went on to practice law with the Office of the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Matt Laffan Scholarship is supported by an annual fundraising event, Laffo’s Long Lunch, together with other generous donations.
